The car as presented. Considering its age it was already in excellent condition.

Black plastics a little wear-faded, which is to be expected

Some reasonable swirling present

The wheels on this car are one of the reasons why I love these early M cars. They are the epitome of functionality without sacrificing form. For those who don't know about these wheels, they came on earlier M5's and were called M-System Turbine Wheels. They truly exist in the zeitgeist for the M cars of this time.

Pulling off the spring-loaded centre caps we see lots of build-up

APC soak

and working away with the wheel brush, amongst other tools

Back to a near factory finish

The centre caps themselves also got a clean

After:

Foam wash

Brush agitation around the car

And onto inspection under the lights (after decontamination via prep towel)

Lots of swirling present

As well as some heavy water etching on the boot lid

After a first stage compound with Orange CCS and HD Cut, which cleared everything but would need a follow up stage to remove the minor hazing

Water etching removed

Bumper before:

After:

Some reasonable clarity being achieved via Orange CCS and HD Cut on the Bigfoot

Driver's side door before:

Post compound:

Light scratching the entire length of the doors on both sides

After

After:

B Pillar 50/50. Hand polish. Polishing by machine would have left them too glossy. Hand polishing was more sympathetic, restoring the original look whilst removing the oxidation.

Dan's Garage sticker matching the car's colour scheme quite nicely :)

Final outdoor shots

Plastics also restored with Carpro DLUX. The front now cuts a much more dramatic look with the plastics correctly tinted
