Here is the car as presented.

It was looking a bit tired but not bad considering it's thirteen years old. The owner knew the bonnet and front guards had been repainted but what I found out was that they were painted in single stage red instead of he factory clear over base. After a conversation with the owner to explain that coatings don't bond as well to single stage paints as they do to clear coated paints and make clear the limitations therein, Opti-Coat was still applied to the car.

The car received a two stage correction. The factory paint was typical sticky Nissan and not ideally the sort of paint you want to work with on a 35 degree day, however I pushed on and adjusted my approach accordingly. My compound of choice after some testing ended up being Megs 105 for the compounding stage and HD Polish for the finishing stage. Some Befores and Afters.

The roof was very low paint depth wise (low 70 micron range). Pinholing in the clear was present as a result unfortunately

Same on the boot lid to a lesser degree. The spoiler was also removed in order to gain full access to the boot lid.

The mirrors were also repainted in single stage and had oxidised quite badly

Phil Kube from QB Dentfree also came by to take out four small dings in the right hand rear quarter. One was able to be glue-pulled but the other three really made Phil work, as he had to remove the rear seats and interior trim to be able to get to them. Phil took it all in his stride and as usual fixed the dings as though they'd never existed.

After the paint was taken care of there was also a need to refresh the plastics and surrounds back closer to a factory finish. 50/50 of the scuttle tray being cleaned up

Before and After. Much closer to factory.

Some final shots

The GT badge on the rear of the car was also removed as per the owner's request. Without it the back looks much less cluttered
