Here's the car as presented

Birds had had a party on his solid black-painted roof

A hint that the car is regularly parked under a gum tree

A slightly bigger hint

These wheels are gloss from the factory. They're just covered in a film of dirt. The roads in the owner's area have been under construction for the last several months

Decontamination

Foam Wash

Inspection under the lights. The black racing stripes on the bonnet have had a hammering both by birds and also tree sap, water spotting etc. As a result they were quite badly etched

50/50

The stripes were tackled first and had to be treated very carefully as they're not under the clear and there is transfer when you polish these. Having said that, hand polishing had minimal effect and the Bigfoot would have been too powerful. The 3" Griots was ideal for this task as it's not a particularly powerful machine but it still had more oomph than hand polishing.

Final result. Some etching was too deep to risk pulling out, but a massive improvement.

On to the rest of the car.

Low amounts of swirling and water spotting

As suspected, the bird lime played havoc with the clear coat on the roof

More swirls

Pillars

Polish residue and staining everywhere from pre-delivery detail

and polish caught in gaps

A deep scratch on the boot lip

Light swirling on the tops of the doors

RID (scratch) near the fuel cap

Post-correction results

I was able to remove 99% of the bird poo etching

Pillars much better

RID removed

Much improved gloss and reflectivity

There wasn't a massive amount I could do about the scratches on the boot lip. Slight improvement though

Polish residue removed

Trim staining
