69 Chev Camaro – Hugger Orange
TREATMENT
- Wash & Decontamination
- Multi-Stage Paint Correction
- Kamikaze Infinity Wax Hybrid Carnuba/Glass Coat
DESCRIPTION
This 69 Camaro was brought in from the US a couple of years ago. It received a respray approx four years ago in “Hugger Orange” the original paint for this specific vehicle. It has just spent the last nine months getting a complete drivetrain overhaul and now sports a 555ci (9.1L) Big Block V8. The rear valance was also painted in a satin black to denote “Big Block” as the original cars off the line would have been done.

Here is the car as presented. An imposing beast in the flesh!

Dished alloys look absolutely spectacular on this car and, even though they're a modern style, they suit the car perfectly.

That 555ci (9.1L) big block monster

The car hadn't had a proper detail since the owner has had it. Add to that the nine months of mechanical work meant that there was a reasonable amount of general swirling present. Not exactly trashed, but certainly enough there to interfere with the gloss and clarity.

Some buffer trails in amongst the swirling, probably going all the way back to the original respray

After the correction, a panel wipe was performed and then Kamikaze Infinity Wax was applied and left to cure for 2.5hrs before buffing off. Infinity Wax was chosen because it is a hybrid mix of Carnuba Wax and Glass Coat. The idea being that you get the warmth of a Carnuba, but the durability of a glass coat. The car's lines and colour lend itself to more of a warm wax look than an out and out hard reflective gloss of a pure glass coat. Infinity Wax applied and curing

Waiting waiting...

After 2.5hrs it was buffed off to show a beautiful deep rich lustre. It's hard to imagine anything other than a wax doing justice to a car such as this.

If I were to caption what the car was saying at this point I reckon it's probably something like "The hell you lookin at ese....."
