Porsche Carrera RS (Rebuild)
TREATMENT
- Wash & Decontamination
- Multi-Stage Paint Correction
- Selant-based Paint Protection
DESCRIPTION
This one is the weekend runabout of an existing customer. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to working on it.
It’s a mid-80s Porsche that’s been completely and meticulously re-built from the ground up to be a replica of a 73 Carrera RS. Right down to the single stage paint.
The car is photogenic enough, and, with the right attention has the potential to be a real show car. So the owner wanted it to have a good going over and some sealant-based paint protection applied

The car as presented. Looks ok, but there was a lot of oxidation present, so the car felt very rough to touch

Original highlights. Most of this car was re-built with genuine original (and refurbished) Porsche gear of the same era. This is no cheap backyard rebuild.

Exhaust causing some heat damage to the bumper. Fortunately it is only minor and was able to be corrected out

Fuchs wheels, another genuine item, riding on some fat 16" rubber. 255 at the rear, which would have been massive in 1973.

Chemical decontamination removing a lot of oxidation

Some heavy swirling to correct out

Paint levels indicating several layers of paint across the car. This car was repainted in the traditional single stage manner
